Nechama arrived in Israel in 1976. She was the first hygienist to be employed by a dental school in Israel to instruct dental students, in the Periodontal Department at Hadassah School of Dental Medicine. In addition, with the inception of the first Israeli Dental Hygiene Program in 1978 Nechama was part of the teaching and clinical staff till 1980.

Since graduation, Nechama has worked continuously in private practices, and has had the opportunity to fill in temporarily in many different clinics over the years.

Nechama has volunteered teaching oral health in regular and special education schools through 12thgrade, as well as to private groups and individuals. She has also given instruction in oral health at the Pediatric Nephrology and Dialysis Unit at the Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.

Nechama has been a member of the Israeli Dental Hygiene Association since its inception, edited the first editions of the Israeli Dental Hygiene Journal, and is presently Honorary President of the IDHA
